As a care provider, dentists are required to stay on top of new information and technologies to better serve their patients. At Metropolitan Periodontists, we are committed to providing the highest level of periodontal treatment options and implant solutions for each patient’s unique situation. Drs. Wilson and Kersten of Metropolitan Periodontists educate themselves as well as other professionals in the dental field on advanced techniques and patient care through the City of Lakes Study Club, City of Lakes Hygiene Study Club and Dental Implant program.
The City of Lakes Study Club, which is an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club, is often referred to as a 'University without walls'. It is recognized as one of the most advanced continuing education groups for dental professionals in the nation.
The City of Lakes Study Club is fully accredited by the State of Minnesota for continuing education. It takes a unique approach to the learning process. We have several clinical sessions throughout the study club year, which includes the evaluation and treatment planning of actual patients. Problem-solving workshops and clinical demonstration sessions are also included in the program. In addition, quality laboratory personnel and representatives provide technical support from ancillary companies for relevant sessions. Members can expect 45-55 hours of CE per year with team members getting 15-20 hours per year.
The City of Lakes Hygiene Study Club is a unique opportunity offered to hygienists. Hygienists are able to enjoy a fun, informational, casual setting with peers. The program is a combined balance of lecture and group discussions, meeting 4-6 times per year in a variety of locations, primarily in the Downtown Minneapolis area.
Dr. Wilson started the implant program in the spring of 2014. The basis of the program is to focus on the ‘All on 4’ or ‘Revitalize’ techniques for the general dentists. General dentists are able to familiarize themselves with the parts and pieces of the full mouth implant cases, ask questions and have discussions in a small group setting. The implant program meets 4-5 times a year. Each meeting is different from the next to give the dentist a better understanding of what implant dentistry has to offer for themselves and their patients.

I just had a painless dental implant done by Dr. Mark Wilson. Dr. Wilson and all of his staff were very professional, helpful, and friendly. The procedure was amazingly smooth. The rooms are state-of-the-art, immaculate and welcoming with wall to wall windows looking out on the mall. This dentistry practice makes the whole process very comfortable.
I want to thank Dr.Wilson, Valerie, John, Summer and Ericka for the excellent service they provided to me.They are a team you can trust and they support you every step of the way. A patient could not be in better hands.
